6. Difficulties Encountered

For the figures, especially those over millions or billions, I ask myself to hold my breath and be patient. Many words are found hard to express although they are with highly frequent use in Chinese. Therefore I should often refer to the internet where it may give a clue.
7. My Shortcomings
Figures are always my headache. I will be at sea and lose my thought when facing a large number of figures. Sometime they wander my mind, daze me and even mess up if I am not careful enough. But numbers or figures does matter in every aspect which even a slight mistake will make a big difference and bring into great trouble.

人与环境有着密不可分的关系。无论过去、现在还是未来，人类总是在不断地改造环境，创造不仅使用，而且美观的环境空间。城市所意味的，不仅仅是建筑、街道、商店等人工建构物的堆积，而蕴涵着在诸多功能性设施及硬质景观相伴下的社会文化、经济、政治和城市居民多姿多彩的生活。从外在的视觉影像来看，城市是由其平面结构、天际轮廓、各色建筑、街市设施、区域地标、开放的空间、植栽园林及穿梭不定的交通工具所构成，然而这些都是城市人在选择和被选择的行为方式下形成的物质形态，其间蕴涵着深厚的自然法则、社会心理、人文情感及历史沧桑。
20世纪著名的城市学和建筑学学者刘易斯?芒福德在其代表性著作《城市发展史》中指出：“如果城市所实现的生活不是它自身的一种褒奖，那么为城市的发展形成而付出的全部牺牲就将毫无代价。无论扩大的权力还是有限的物质财富 ，都不能抵偿哪怕是一天丧失了的美、欢乐和亲情的享受。” “当我们漫步于城市中时却可发现这种现象是无初步在的，周围的建筑物仿佛能够讲话、能够行动，正像居住在其中的居民一样；而且通过城市的物质结构，过去的事件、很久以前做出的决定、久已形成的价值观念等，都继续存活下来并且散发着影响。”
正是为了充分认识到城市环境与在建构城市环境的过程中人的作用，作为城市生态学的学习者，我们于20018年4月5日进行了一次位于北京西北郊的实习。
一、实习概况
我们于早晨8：00从北大逸夫二楼前出发，经过光华楼、图书馆、燕南园、李大钊铜像、蔡元培铜像，到达未名湖南岸，看到翻尾石鱼，出北大西门，穿过蔚秀园、承泽园、海淀公园、柳浪庄、北京城市绿化隔离带，到达颐和园南如意门，观看门外的京密引水渠，之后从颐和园南如意门进入颐和园，到达昆明湖南岸，沿西堤到达万寿山和东宫门，结束实习。沿途就绿化、建筑等自然和人文景观做了一定的调查，获得了一定的资料，也得出了一些自己的思考和结论。
二、实习内容及分析
1、关于一条有争议的路
走进北大东门，可以看到的是一条宽阔笔直的大路。作为北大少有的几条宽阔笔直的大路之一，它是一条争议颇多的路，路边整齐的人工保养得很好的草坪宣告着现代化和国际化的全新的北大。这条路周围集聚着北京大学比较现代化的建筑群——理科一号楼、二号楼、逸夫一楼、逸夫二楼、逸夫苑、理科教学楼等等。而在这条路的尽头又是富有传统韵味的仿古式楼群。
很多人认为，路面的宽阔与笔直与周围建筑的仿古式屋顶不大协调。除了整齐的人工草坪，路的两面是栽种得整齐得近乎过分的小树，而路的尽头则是生长多年的高大而遮荫的大树，不协调的感受更加强烈。
这大概就涉及到了所谓的“视觉适应性”。在很多时候，我们很少考虑特定的环境，只是单纯地去套用一种种看上去很好很先进的模式，而忽略了特定环境对建筑等人为设施的特殊要求。
也许这也是规划中的一个问题。就如同北大校园中随处可见的新式建筑与老式建筑的交相辉映，也许不能算是完美的选择。
2、校园里的世外桃源——燕南园
燕南园是北京大学燕园众多园林中较小的一个，园中只错落着十几幢精致雅洁的二层小楼和平房小院，这里是北大教授一个住宅区。人们常说，“北大的名教授不一定都住在燕南园，但燕南园住的都是名教授”。单说50年代，燕南园里就住着马寅初、汤用彤、周培源、冯友兰、朱光潜、陈岱孙、侯仁之、林庚诸先生，后来又搬进来王力、魏建功等先生。冰心女士执教燕京大学的时候也曾经在此生活过。这足以反映其内涵的深厚与文化积淀了。
燕南园中独立的住宅模式正是老教授们学术研究的理想环境。正如一位老教授在接受采访的时候指出，尽管略显古老，自己也不会想到要去改变房子的老式格局，有一个原因是，尽管很多书都捐给了图书馆，家里的藏书也导致装修的不便。然而更加关键的一点——老房子的格局是一种可以使人安下心来读书治学的环境。多年的积淀，已经使这个小小的园子充满了书香之气……
那么，除了书香，对于久在这里居住的人们来说，它又意味着什么呢？
在实习过程中接受采访的主要是60岁以上的老人，在这里居住时间都超过了35年。他们普遍认为，燕南园有着良好的居住环境，首先它位于一个台地上，地势比周围都高，这是一个良好的地理环境。而其间各色的植物，又为园子提供了一个协调的生态环境。作为极具特色的.住宅园林，燕南园吸引着各方来客，清华大学建筑学院的师生还曾经在此写生，研究其建筑特色。
然而燕南园也有其不足之处。被采访者普遍指出的有以下几点：
其一是来游览观光的人群打破了原有的宁静和洁净，过路的汽车扬尘和制造噪音，给园内的环境带来了很大程度的破坏。
其二是公厕的问题。公厕占用的土地是过去孩子们的游戏场，而由于疏于管理，公厕的建设不仅消灭了孩子的游乐，也对环境造成了很大的影响。其实在燕南园中，每户独立的住宅中都有独立的卫生设施，公厕的设立只是为园外小商小贩提供了便利。作为北大校园中少见的几个室外公厕之一，它的设立自然有其道理，然而选址在富有文化底蕴和深厚内涵的燕南园，选址在老教授们读书治学的燕南园，或许并不是很合理。
其三是办公与住宅的矛盾。正如一位被采访者指出，燕南园中有的住宅已经被学校划归某些行政机构，行政机构的办公进一步打破了园子的宁静，不能不引起深思。
燕南园的风韵，代表的正是北大风韵的一部分，是治学的风范和怡然的性情。它的完整，是北大的不可分割的一分。也许，它的宁静不应该遭到打破和窥伺……
3、苹果园的变迁——静园草坪
著名的静园草坪过去是一片苹果园，作为草坪，它取代的是过去的东草坪的地位。曾经的东草坪就在现在的新图书馆的位置，它曾经是很为学生们所喜爱的一片浪漫草坪。有一名北大学生这样写道：“东草坪是北大老图书馆东边的那块地儿。这里曾经是高晓松那帮拿把破吉它到北大糊弄小女生的主儿极尽能事的舞台，更是我们北大人读书休憩的好地方。很多北大的情侣相识、相约、相恋在东草坪，他们对这块草地的感情更深厚。……李嘉诚说：这块地儿空着怪可惜的，我给你们点儿钱，再修半截图书馆吧。一年后，这里再没有一人一张报纸一本书的景象了，一座比最高人民法院还庄严肃穆的建筑淹没了本来该发生的好多故事。”
后经学生强烈要求，原先的苹果园就被改成了草坪。草坪的浪漫又恢复了，然而那片校园中不可多得的果园却永远地失去了。多少总是有些可惜的。
兼容，或许真的很难。这些年来，北大为了接纳越来越多的求学者，为了与国际接轨，很多原有的自然和人为的独特的风景都只能让位给新的建筑，这引起了无数老北大人的感怀。而发展总是要有的，关键是怎样发展，如何在适宜的地方做到寸土寸金地利用土地，而在另一些地方留下我们的骄傲。如果有一天，未名湖开始缩小，或者未名湖周围矗立起了新式的建筑，那才是我们真正的悲哀。
“一塔湖图”并非北大的全部，北大的精神，很广，北大的骄傲，就在于它所创造的文化，科学与自然的和谐统一……
4、匠心独具——通向未名湖的小径
北大的校园北部可以说是古韵十足，像中国的传统园林，在优美的浪漫中又给人以思想和历史的沉重感。“北大的生活更接近于传统的文人士大夫。”一位总是喜欢留连于未名湖畔的清华学生说。这种文人士大夫气，从那一条条通向未名湖的小径也可以体现出来，它的荫蔽和静谧，构成了北大独特的风景。
幽静的小径边生长着各色的植物。引人注目的是雪松下的石头，它独特的用途使人耳目一新。松针下部的蜡质物是酸性物，下落到土壤中会使土壤受到酸化影响，土质变差，以至于到了刮风的时候会有尘土飞扬。而石头可以防止扬尘，从而保证了这里路面与空气的清新与洁净。
而路旁的传统建筑的大屋檐则为麻雀等鸟类提供了良好的生活环境，鸟鸣声不绝于耳。在这里，人与自然真正融为一体,是一道不可多得的风景。
“走进北京大学校园，树枝上、草地上、教学楼旁、图书馆前、未名湖畔、博雅塔顶……到处都可看到成群的喜鹊以及其他各种飞禽，一派“校园处处闻啼鸟”的景象。
“19年前毕业于北大中文系的北大党委宣传部副部长张黎明在接受新华社记者采访时说，他上大学时就在校园内看到喜鹊，但没有现在的数量多，初略估计多达数千只。现在，校园内不仅可以看到喜鹊，还可看到松鼠、刺猬等多种野生小动物，未名湖上还飞来过白天鹅。讲话间，记者不时看到喜鹊从他办公室的窗前飞过。
“现在，北大校园已变成了各种飞禽和动物栖息的乐园。校园内遍布了端庄浓绿的桧柏、苍劲古朴的油松、华美高雅的白皮松、金黄富丽的银杏枫树等常绿树和春秋色树。据北大园林科调查，全校共有416株古树，其中300年以上的有30棵，100年以上的有386棵。
”张黎明说：“良好的生态环境已成为北大校园文化的重要组成部分。”每逢节假日，到北大校园感受文化氛围的各地游客多达数千人。“
是的，在生态建设方面，我们的确在十分努力地做。就如我们后来在西校门，看到了一只对人毫无恐惧的喜鹊。由衷的喜悦，升起……
5、未名湖的湖心岛与翻尾石鱼
湖光塔影，让人留连忘返。未名湖景色出众，已经成为北大风景的标志。环湖的杨柳婀娜多姿，枝条低垂，温柔地拍打着水面，博雅塔的倒影在水中隐隐浮现。横卧在湖中的有石舫，点缀着塔景的是湖中的小岛。幽静的湖心岛是未名湖上的一颗珍珠。翻尾石鱼，则是湖中一道独特的风景。
从老师那里，才知道了其背后的故事。小岛原先是芦苇等植物旺盛生长的优良环境，是一个生态极其协调的小环境，与翻尾石鱼一道构成一道独特的风景。然而在百年校庆时，学校为了更好地进行介绍和说明，在小岛上设立了一块说明牌，由此吸引了大量游客上岛，人的影响使得芦苇的生长受到了极大的影响，直到芦苇完全从小岛上消失。
好在学校已经认识到这点，今天看到的说明牌，已经从小岛上转移到湖边。具有自恢复性的生态系统，在得到长期发展的条件后，应该可以恢复到原先的状态。不久的将来，我们可以重新拥有一个优良生态的小岛，然而并非所有的错误都可以得到补救，有时候，一个不很英明的决定是可以造成很大的遗憾的。规划的长远性由此可见一斑。只愿小岛的故事能够带给我们一些启示。
6、蔚秀园与畅春园
有着悠久历史的燕园，是我们的骄傲。
“北京大学燕园校区，早在金代就成为京郊著名的风景区。到了明代，大规模构筑园林，至清代成了封建帝王的“赐园”。民国期间成为燕京大学校园。校园的用地中包括了八个古园遗址，即“勺园”、“淑春园”、“鸣鹤园”、“镜春园”、“朗润园”、“蔚秀园”、“承泽园”及“治贝子园”等。在位置上与圆明园毗邻，在内容、造园风格上与圆明园之万春园中的若干园中园有类似之处。不同于宏丽的皇家园林，也有别于咫尺山林的私家园林而独具一格。
